The Fox Who Befriended the Sleepwalker

In the heart of the Whispering Woods lived a clever little fox named Felix. With fur as orange as autumn leaves and a tail that twitched with curiosity, Felix spent his days exploring every corner of the forest. But he had one special secret—his magical goldfish friend, Glimmer, who lived in a crystal pond and could grant one small wish each full moon.

One starry evening, as Felix sat by the pond brushing his messy hair after a day of adventure, he spotted something strange shuffling through the trees. It looked like a person, but they walked stiffly, with arms stretched forward, making soft groaning sounds.

"A zombie!" whispered Felix, his tail poofing up with fear.

But Glimmer the goldfish popped her head above the water. "Don't be scared, Felix. That's not a zombie. That's Zola, and she's under a Sleepwalking Spell."

Felix watched as Zola stumbled toward a patch of moonflowers. She looked so lonely, walking alone in her enchanted sleep night after night. Felix's heart went out to her.

"I wish," said Felix to Glimmer, "that Zola could wake up and find a friend."

Glimmer's scales shimmered with magic. In a flash of silver light, Zola's arms relaxed. Her eyes opened, bright and surprised. She looked around and spotted Felix's orange fur glowing in the moonlight.

"Hello?" Zola said softly. "I've been dreaming about a fox friend."

Felix trotted over, his tail wagging. "I'm Felix. And this is Glimmer. We've been watching you. Would you like to stay awake and play?"

Zola's smile was brighter than the full moon. "More than anything!"

From that night on, Felix, Zola, and Glimmer had wonderful adventures together. And whenever someone in the woods whispered about the "zombie," Felix would smile and say, "That's no zombie. That's my best friend, Zola—and she's just perfect the way she is."

For in the Whispering Woods, friendship was the strongest magic of all.
