The Fox's Midnight Padel

Lily's wild red hair always bounced when she ran, which made her self-conscious. Kids called her Puffball, so she often hid behind the old padel court at the edge of town.

One full-moon night, Lily heard a strange sound—*thwack, thwack, thwack.* She peered through the fence and gasped.

A silver fox with the fluffiest tail she'd ever seen was batting a mysterious glowing ball against the padel wall. With every hit, sparks drifted upward like tiny fireflies.

"You play beautifully," Lily whispered, forgetting her shyness.

The fox froze. Its emerald eyes sparkled with mischief. Then—most amazingly—it spoke!

"Only those with magic in their hair can see me," said the fox, whose name was Whisper. "Come closer."

Lily stepped through the gate, and suddenly the padel court wasn't a court anymore. The ground rippled like water, transforming into a shimmering pool that reflected not the moon, but galaxies of swirling stars.

"This is the Dream Pool," Whisper explained. "Every night, I play padel to send wishes up to the stars. But my fur is getting too old for such energetic work."

The fox nudged a glowing padel racket toward Lily with his nose. "Your hair holds great magic. I've been waiting for someone like you."

Lily's hands trembled as she picked up the racket. She swung at a light ball—and *WHOOSH!* It soared upward, leaving a trail of rainbow sparkles that swirled around her wild red hair.

With every hit, Lily felt stronger. Her hair wasn't messy anymore; it was magnificent, catching stardust with every movement. She and Whisper played until dawn, sending hundreds of wishes twinkling into the sky.

"Will you come back tomorrow?" Whisper asked hopefully.

"Every night," Lily promised. "And maybe... I'll teach the other kids to play too."

The fox's tail wagged. "Perfect. The Dream Pool works best with friends."

Lily walked home as the sun rose, her red hair glittering with leftover starlight. For the first time, she didn't try to hide it. She tossed her head and let it bounce—wild, magical, and wonderful.
