The Fox's Magical Garden

Lily followed the bright orange tail past the garden gate, her heart pounding with excitement. A sleek fox paused and looked back, amber eyes twinkling mysteriously.

"Follow me," the fox seemed to say without speaking.

Lily tiptoed through roses taller than her head until she reached a hidden pond. A golden goldfish with sparkling scales swam to the surface.

"Welcome, Lily!" the goldfish bubbled. "I've been waiting for you!"

"You can TALK?" Lily gasped.

"Everything in this garden is magical," the fox replied smoothly. "Especially the spinach."

He pointed to glowing emerald leaves. "One bite gives you courage. Two bites make you kind. Three bites... well, that's a secret."

Lily tried a leaf. Suddenly, she felt brave enough to climb the tallest tree!

"Now we can play!" said a groaning voice from behind a bush.

Out shambled a lumpy green figure with stitching visible on his neck. Lily gasped.

"Don't be scared!" the fox said quickly. "This is Zed. He's a zombie, but the FRIENDLIEST zombie you'll ever meet. He was cursed by a grumpy wizard, but inside, he's just a lonely boy who wants to play."

"Want to play padel?" Zed asked hopefully, holding a magical racket that glowed purple.

Lily's eyes widened. "YOU know padel?"

"I was the padel champion before... well, before." Zed smiled crookedly.

They played magical padel against foxes and rabbits, the ball leaving trails of rainbow sparks. Zed moved clumsily but laughed joyfully. For the first time in years, he didn't feel like a monster.

As the sun set, the fox whispered, "Zed needs friends to break his curse. Will you come back?"

"EVERY day!" Lily promised.

Zed's stitches sparkled. A patch of green skin turned pink.

"Thank you," he whispered. "Friendship is the strongest magic of all."
