The Fox's Magic Garden

Lily hated spinach. Every time her mom served those green leaves for dinner, she would slide them to the edge of her plate. But her curly red hair would bounce as she shook her head no.

One afternoon, Lily was playing by the old swimming pool behind her house. It hadn't been used in years — the water was gone, and leaves covered the bottom. But Lily loved imagining it was a magical kingdom.

Suddenly, a flash of orange darted past! A fox!

Lily had never seen a fox so close. It stood at the edge of the empty pool, watching her with bright amber eyes.

"Come with me," the fox seemed to say with a twitch of its bushy tail.

Lily followed the fox through a hole in the garden fence. She gasped! On the other side was the most beautiful garden she had ever seen. But what grew there wasn't like normal plants.

"Welcome," said the fox, and to Lily's surprise, it could talk! "I am Felix. This is the Garden of Courage."

"Courage?" Lily asked.

"Yes," Felix nodded. "Everything that grows here gives you bravery. Look at these." He pointed to tall stalks with emerald leaves. "They look like ordinary spinach, but one bite makes you fearless."

Lily's eyes went wide. "Spinach? But I hate spinach!"

"Try it," Felix encouraged. "Just one leaf. You might discover something wonderful."

Lily hesitated, then plucked a leaf and took a tiny bite. It was sweet and crunchy, nothing like the spinach at home. Suddenly, she felt warm and brave, like she could do anything!

"That's the secret," Felix said with a wink. "Things that seem scary might actually be magical if you give them a chance."

Lily skipped home, her red hair flying behind her, ready to try anything — even spinach at dinner.
