The Fox's Golden Wish

Felix was a small fox with the softest orange fur in the whole forest. But Felix was lonely. All the other foxes were too busy hunting and running to play with him.

One afternoon, Felix sat by a sparkling pond, watching ripples dance across the water. Suddenly, something caught his eye—a tiny goldfish with scales that shone like tiny stars.

"Hello there!" Felix called out, his orange ears perking up.

The goldfish swam closer. "Hello, little fox! My name is Goldie. Why do you look so sad?"

Felix sighed. "I have no friends. Everyone is too busy for me."

Goldie swam in a happy circle. "I'll be your friend! And guess what? I'm not just any goldfish. I'm a magic goldfish! I can grant you one wish."

Felix's orange tail wagged excitedly. "Really? Then I wish for…" He paused. What did he really want? More friends? To be faster? Stronger?

Then Felix looked at Goldie, swimming happily all alone in the big pond. "Goldie, do you have any friends?"

Goldie's shiny scales dimmed a little. "No. All the other fish swim away because I'm magic. They think I'm strange."

Felix made his decision. "I wish… for YOU to have lots of friends!"

Goldie gasped. "But Felix, that's your only wish!"

"That's okay," Felix said, smiling. "Because now you're my friend, and I'm yours. And that makes both of us less lonely."

Suddenly, the pond glowed golden. Goldie's magic swirled through the water, and suddenly dozens of colorful fish appeared—green fish, blue fish, purple fish, all wanting to meet Goldie!

"Thank you, Felix!" Goldie cheered.

"No, thank you," Felix said, his orange fur glowing in the sunlight. "I learned that the best wish is one that helps others."

From that day on, Felix visited the pond every day. He played with Goldie and all her new fish friends, and he was never lonely again. Because he discovered that when you make others happy, happiness finds you too.
