The Fox and the Sphinx's Secret Friend
Felix was the smallest fox in the desert, but he had the biggest dreams. Every night, he would watch the Great Pyramid glow under the moonlight, and every night he wondered what secrets lay inside its ancient walls.
One morning, Felix woke up extra early. The sun was just peeking over the sand dunes, painting the sky pink and gold. Today was the day he would finally explore!
As he approached the Great Pyramid, Felix noticed something strange. A stone lion with a human face sat at the entrance – a sphinx! Its eyes sparkled like emeralds.
"Hello, little friend," the sphinx said in a voice like wind through temple bells. "I am Seraphina. I have guarded this pyramid for thousands of years."
Felix's tail wagged excitedly. "I'm Felix! I've always wanted to see inside!"
Seraphina smiled mysteriously. "Many wish to enter, but few are brave enough. There is someone inside whom everyone fears..."
"What kind of someone?" Felix asked, tilting his head.
"They call him a zombie," Seraphina whispered. "But I think he's just lonely."
Felix's ears perked up. He knew his mother had told him zombies were scary monsters who shuffled around and said "brains." But Seraphina didn't seem scared, and she was the guardian!
"I want to meet him," Felix declared bravely.
Inside the pyramid, the walls were covered in colorful hieroglyphs that seemed to dance in the torchlight. Deep in the heart of the pyramid, they found him – a crocodile slowly walking in circles, looking very confused.
"Hello?" Felix said gently.
The crocodile jumped. "Oh! A visitor! I'm Zazu. I've been wandering for so long... I think I forgot where I'm going."
"That's why they call you a zombie!" Felix realized. "Not because you're scary, but because you keep walking in circles!"
Zazu laughed, and his laugh sounded like rocks tumbling down a river. "Yes! I have a terrible sense of direction. That's why Seraphina lets me stay here in the pyramid, where I can't get lost."
Felix spent the rest of the day playing hide-and-seek with Zazu and listening to Seraphina's stories. As he curled up to sleep that night, Felix learned something important: sometimes things aren't scary at all – they're just misunderstood.
And from that day on, whenever anyone mentioned zombies, Felix would smile and think of his friend Zazu, the kindest, most lost crocodile in all of Egypt.
