The Fox and the Riddle Stream
Felix the fox loved **running** through the Whispering Woods, his orange fur flashing like sunlight between the trees. But one morning, he discovered something magical—a stream where the **water** sparkled with rainbow colors and sang soft melodies.
Beside the stream sat Bella the bear, her big brown eyes filled with worry. "I can't cross," she rumbled sadly. "The ancient **sphinx** guards the other side, and she asks riddles I cannot solve. My sister is sick beyond the stream, and only the healing flowers there can help her."
Felix's heart swelled with determination. "I'll help you, Bella!" he promised.
Together they approached the stone sphinx, whose emerald eyes gleamed with ancient wisdom. The sphinx's voice echoed like gentle thunder: "What runs but has no feet? What flows but never moves? What gives life but asks nothing in return?"
Bella's shoulders slumped. She didn't know the answer.
Felix thought hard. He looked at the magical stream, at the way it danced over smooth stones, at how it nourished the forest without asking for anything. "**Water**!" he exclaimed. "The answer is **water**!"
The sphinx smiled, and the stream parted to reveal a path of glowing lilies. "You have shown wisdom and kindness," she said. "But there is one more lesson."
Bella hesitated. "What is it?"
"The answer wasn't found alone," the sphinx whispered. "Bella, you are strong. Felix, you are quick. But together, you are wise. Friendship itself is like **running** **water**—it nourishes everything it touches."
Felix and Bella looked at each other and smiled. They gathered the healing flowers, and Bella's sister recovered.
From that day on, the fox and the bear were best friends. And sometimes, when the sun set just right, they could hear the sphinx laughing softly in the distance, reminding them that the greatest magic of all isn't found in riddles or streams—it's found in the hearts of friends who help each other.
