The Fox and the Midnight Garden
Lily had the most extraordinary red hair. It tumbled down her back like a waterfall of autumn leaves, always tangling into the most interesting shapes. One evening, she sat by her window, watching the forest behind her house. The moon was full and silver-bright.
Suddenly, something orange and furry darted between the trees. A fox!
Lily grabbed her flashlight and tiptoed outside. The fox stopped at the edge of the garden and looked back at her with gleaming amber eyes. It wasn't running away. It was waiting.
"Come with me," the fox seemed to say without speaking.
Lily followed, her red hair streaming behind her like a comet's tail. They went deeper into the forest until they reached a hidden garden Lily had never seen before. But something strange was happening. Flowers that had looked dead and wilted were straightening up. Leaves were uncurling. Tree branches were reaching toward the moonlight.
"It's a zombie garden!" gasped Lily, remembering the scary stories her older brother told.
The fox gently nudged her hand. Don't be afraid.
Lily watched in wonder as a withered rosebush bloomed with flowers that glowed like tiny stars. A cluster of drooping sunflowers lifted their heads and began to spin slowly, catching moonbeams. This wasn't scary at all. It was magical!
"You're not zombies," Lily whispered. "You're moon flowers! You only wake up at night!"
The fox dipped its head. Yes, little one. Not everything is as it seems.
Lily's wild hair began to sparkle in the moonlight,仿佛 it had caught some of the garden's magic. She realized that sometimes things that seem scary or strange are actually just different - and different can be wonderful.
Every night after that, Lily and her fox friend visited the midnight garden. And she learned that the world was full of magic, if only you were brave enough to look with your heart instead of your fears.
