The Fox and the Lonely Zombie

Fiona Fox trotted through the Whispering Woods, her orange tail bouncing with every step. It was the spookiest night of the year, and all the animals were preparing for the Great Halloween Festival. Fiona wore a cape made of fallen leaves, stitched together with spider silk.

But something was wrong. Near the old pumpkin patch, she saw a sad figure shuffling along. It was Zane, a little **zombie** boy with patchy green skin and stitches on his cheek. All the other animals ran away when they saw him.

"Don't be scared," Zane said softly. "I just want to join the festival. But everyone thinks I'm scary."

Fiona's heart went out to him. She noticed Zane's tummy rumbling loudly. "When was the last time you ate something fresh?"

Zane shrugged. "Zombies don't need much food. But I do miss vegetables from when I was alive. Especially garden vegetables."

Fiona's eyes twinkled. She knew exactly where to find the most magical vegetables in the forest! "Come with me!"

She led Zane to her secret garden, where moonbeams made everything glow. There, growing in a silver patch of dirt, was the most magnificent **spinach** Fiona had ever seen. The leaves shimmered like emeralds and sparkled with tiny stars.

"This is Moonbeam Spinach," Fiona explained. "It only grows on Halloween night, and it's said to bring joy to anyone who eats it."

Zane took a bite of the magical **spinach**. Something wonderful happened! His green skin turned a healthy pink, his stitches vanished, and he smiled — a real, happy smile.

"Thank you, Fiona," Zane said. "You're the first friend I've made in a hundred years."

Hand in paw, they walked to the festival together. When the other animals saw how happy Zane was, they realized he wasn't scary at all — he had just been lonely and hungry.

That night, Zane won the prize for Best Costume (even though it wasn't really a costume). And Fiona learned that true friends look beyond appearances to see the heart inside.

From then on, every Halloween, Fiona the **fox** and Zane would harvest Moonbeam Spinach together, sharing it with anyone who needed a little extra happiness. Because everyone deserves a friend, no matter how different they might seem.
