The Fox and the Lightning Pool
Luna was a clever little fox with fur the color of autumn leaves. Every night, she watched storms dance across the sky from her den. But tonight was different.
A bolt of lightning flashed so bright it turned midnight into noon. CRACK! It struck the center of the meadow, right where the old forgotten well stood.
Luna crept closer, her nose twitching. Where dusty stones had been, there now shimmered a pool of glowing blue water. It rippled even though no wind blew.
Then something popped up from the water—a tiny bull no bigger than Luna's paw! His horns were made of twisted lightning, still sparking.
"Greetings!" squeaked the tiny bull. "I'm Bramble, awakened by the storm's magic. I've slept for three hundred years!"
Luna's tail curled with delight. "I'm Luna. Would you like to see the world?"
Bramble splashed onto the grass. His lightning horns lit up the meadow like living lanterns. Together they raced through forests, crossed sparkling streams, and climbed misty mountains. Luna showed Bramble fireflies, morning dew, and the taste of wild strawberries.
But Bramble grew sad as his lightning dimmed. "My magic is fading. I need to return to the pool before the next storm—or I'll disappear forever."
Luna's heart sank. "You'll be my best friend forever?"
"Forever and always," Bramble promised. "When lightning strikes again, I'll return. Watch for the brightest flash."
They touched noses, sealing their promise. Then Bramble melted back into glowing water. The pool transformed back into ordinary stones.
Now Luna waits by the old well during every storm. She knows friendship is the strongest magic—brighter than lightning, deeper than any pool, and more powerful than time itself.
And somewhere, deep in the magical waters, a tiny lightning-horned bull keeps his promise too.
