The Fox and the Lightning Pool
Felix was a small fox with rusty-red fur and a very curious nose. One evening, as the sun painted the sky in shades of peach and gold, he trotted through the jungle in search of adventure.
Beside a sparkling blue pool, an enormous palm tree stretched its green leaves toward the stars. Felix had never seen this pool before, and its water looked like liquid diamonds in the twilight.
Suddenly—CRACK! A bolt of lightning struck the palm tree's highest frond. But instead of disappearing, the lightning danced down the trunk like a glowing ribbon and settled into a small, shimmering creature no bigger than a butterfly.
"Hello!" chirped the lightning sprite. "I'm Spark! I've been stuck in that cloud for days. Thank goodness for this palm tree!"
Felix's tail twitched with amazement. "I'm Felix. Do you live here?"
"Only for tonight," said Spark, floating sadly. "Tomorrow I must return to the sky. But I'm lonely up there. Lightning sprites don't have friends."
Felix thought carefully. Then he remembered the perfect thing in his pack—a bright orange fruit he'd saved for a snack.
"Would you like to share an orange with me?" Felix asked, rolling it across the ground.
Spark's eyes widened. "I've never had a friend share anything with me before!"
Together under the palm tree, the fox and the lightning sprite shared the sweet orange. They laughed as Sticky juice dripped onto Felix's nose and Spark made tiny sparks of joy whenever something was funny.
"Friends are wonderful," Spark whispered. "I'm going to tell all the lightning sprites about kindness. Maybe next time there's a storm, we'll visit you!"
And from that night on, whenever Felix saw lightning flash across the sky, he knew his friend was dancing among the clouds, sharing the story of one small fox's big heart.
For true friendship, Felix learned, is the brightest magic of all—and it lights up the world better than any lightning bolt ever could.
