The Fox and the Lightning Pool
Felix the fox was the loneliest creature in the forest. Every night, he watched the other animals play together while he sat by himself near the old oak tree.
One rainy afternoon, Felix discovered something magical. Hidden behind a curtain of vines was a sparkling pool he had never seen before. The water glowed with a soft blue light, even though the sky was dark with storm clouds.
"Hello there," said a tiny voice.
Felix jumped! A little goldfish with shimmering orange scales swam to the surface of the pool.
"I'm Goldie," the fish said. "Would you like to make a wish?"
Felix's eyes grew wide. "A wish? Really?"
"Yes! But only during lightning," Goldie explained. "When lightning strikes this pool, my magic wakes up for exactly one minute."
CRACK! BOOM!
A bolt of lightning flashed across the sky and struck the water. The pool lit up like a thousand fireflies.
"Quick! Make your wish!" Goldie called.
Felix thought hard. He could wish for endless berries, or a cozy den, or even to be the fastest fox in the forest. But when he looked at Goldie, swimming alone in the big pool, he felt something in his heart.
"I wish..." Felix said softly, "for a friend who will never leave me."
The water swirled and sparkled. Suddenly, Goldie began to glow brighter and brighter. POOF! A tiny fox with golden-orange fur appeared beside the pool, just like Goldie's scales.
"I'm your friend now," the little fox said with a smile. "My name is Sunny."
Felix had never been happier. He realized that the best wish wasn't something for himself, but something that would never leave him — true friendship.
And every time lightning struck the magical pool, Felix, Sunny, and Goldie would all play together, three friends who found each other in the most unexpected way.
MORAL: The best wishes are the ones that bring us together.
