The Fox and the Forever Fish
Felix was a curious fox with fur as orange as autumn leaves. Every day, he explored the forest, finding treasures: shiny stones, feathers, and once, a lost button shaped like a star.
One morning, Felix discovered something strange—a thick black cable snaking through the grass like a sleeping snake. Where did it come from? Where did it go? His nose twitched with wonder.
He followed the cable past towering oaks and babbling brooks until it reached a small, shimmering pond. There, sitting on a mossy rock, was a girl named Mei, crying softly.
"What's wrong?" Felix asked gently.
"My goldfish, Bubbles," Mei sniffled. "He died yesterday. I buried him by the pond, but..." She pointed.
In the water, a gold-orange fish swam in perfect circles, its scales glittering like tiny stars. But something was odd—Bubbles moved slowly, dreamily, as if swimming through sweet dreams.
"He's a zombie goldfish!" Mei whispered, eyes wide. "I wished so hard for him to come back, and magic heard me."
Felix's tail curled with delight. A zombie goldfish! Not scary at all—just magical and full of love.
Bubbles leaped from the water, landing beside Felix. The fox and fish touched noses, and in that moment, they understood: some friendships are too strong to ever break, not even by time.
Mei laughed, her sadness gone. "We're a team now!"
Every day after, Felix, Mei, and the forever fish had adventures. They discovered hidden groves, danced in rain puddles, and shared secrets beneath moonlight.
And Felix learned that the best magic isn't in mysterious cables or swimming zombies—it's in friendship, which, like Bubbles, never truly fades.
The fox who loved exploring had found something better than treasure: a friend who would swim beside him forever.
