The Fishbowl Pyramid
Lily's stuffed bear, Professor Paws, sat on her pillow every night. But tonight, something magical stirred. When moonlight touched his fuzzy brown nose, Professor Paws twitched.
Barnaby, Lily's golden dog, lifted his head from his rug. His tail thumped.
The goldfish in the corner bowl—Finny—swam to the glass surface and winked. Yes, winked!
"Tonight's the night," Finny's bubbles seemed to say. "The water remembers."
Professor Paws stretched his stuffing-filled legs. "Barnaby! The pyramid is calling!"
Barnaby's ears perked up. A pyramid? In their house?
Finny swam in frantic circles, creating ripples that glowed like liquid stars. The fishbowl water rose up, up, up—forming a shimmering staircase that spiraled toward the ceiling!
"Follow me!" Professor Paws grabbed Barnaby's paw. Together, stuffed bear and real dog climbed the magical water stairs.
At the top, they didn't find the ceiling. They found a golden pyramid floating in a sky of midnight blue. Inside, thousands of wishes shimmered like fireflies—children's dreams kept safe until morning.
"We're the Wish Guardians," Finny appeared beside them, now floating in air like a tiny, glittering submarine. "Every night, we make sure no wish gets lost."
Professor Paws placed his fuzzy paw on the pyramid's golden wall. "Lily's wish is here somewhere."
Barnaby sniffed the air and sneezed—shooting out a perfect soap bubble that popped against the pyramid, revealing a single glowing wish: "I wish Professor Paws could come to school with me."
The three friends looked at each other. Some wishes were too big to fit in a backpack. But some wishes were about friendship.
Finny did a joyful flip. "That wish can come true!"
As dawn approached, they slid back down the water staircase. Professor Paws settled onto Lily's pillow, heart full. Barnaby curled on his rug. Finny floated in his bowl.
When Lily woke and reached for her bear, she could have sworn he felt warmer. As if he'd been somewhere magical. Somewhere real.
She hugged Professor Paws tight. "I have the best friends in the world."
And in the fishbowl, Finny winked again. Some secrets are kept by those who swim in circles, bark at dreams, and guard wishes with fuzzy hearts.
