The Emerald Garden Game

Lily pushed the green leaves around her plate. Why did spinach have to look like tiny leaves from a fairy forest?

"But it makes you strong!" her grandmother said with a wink. "Like the magical garden in my stories."

That night, Lily dreamed of an emerald garden where spinach leaves shimmered like jewels. A enormous bull with a golden nose ring appeared—but instead of being scary, he wore a baseball cap and smiled warmly.

"Want to play padel?" the bull asked in a voice like distant thunder. "It's like tennis, but more magical."

Lily's eyes widened. The bull's racquet sparkled with stardust, and the ball glowed like a tiny moon. Each time they hit it back and forth, the ball changed color—first ruby red, then sapphire blue, then emerald green like the spinach leaves!

"I'm Ferdinand," the bull said gently. "I used to be scary, but I discovered I love sports more than being fierce."

Lily laughed as they played. Her friend the bull taught her that things aren't always what they seem—even spinach leaves could be magical, and even a bull could be gentle.

When she woke up, Lily ate all her spinach. Maybe, just maybe, it would give her the strength to play magical games in her dreams again.

And somewhere, in a emerald garden between dreams and waking, a bull in a baseball cap waited for his next game with his new friend.
