The Emerald Baseball
Leo stared at his dinner plate. The green pile looked like a mini forest on his plate. "Spinach again?" he groaned. But Mom just smiled and said, "It gives you superpowers, you know."
The next day at baseball practice, Leo couldn't hit the ball no matter how hard he tried. His best friend Maya was practicing nearby, hitting home runs like it was nothing. "You okay, Leo?" she called. "You seem distracted."
"Just thinking about that spinach," Leo muttered. That night, he decided to try the green stuff. Maybe his mom was right!
The next morning, something amazing happened. When Leo picked up his baseball, it glowed with a soft green light! He could feel energy flowing through his fingers. At practice that day, Leo hit the ball so far it landed in the next playground!
Maya's eyes went wide. "How did you DO that?"
Leo whispered, "I think... it was the spinach!"
Maya laughed. "No way! Spinach is yucky!" But Leo convinced her to try just one bite. The next day, Maya's baseball started glowing too!
Together, the friends became an unstoppable team. They learned that sometimes the things we think are "yucky" or scary can actually be the best things for us. And the real superpower wasn't just hitting home runs—it was trying something new and discovering magic in unexpected places.
That summer, Leo and Maya led their team to the championship. And every night before big games, you could bet there were two happy children eating their spinach with big grins on their faces.
