The Dream Vitamins

Maya was lonely. Every day after school, she sat beneath the old palm tree in her backyard, watching its fronds dance in the warm breeze. The palm was the only thing that seemed to listen to her stories.

One afternoon, something peculiar happened. A tiny glow pulsed between the palm's rough leaves. Maya crept closer. Inside the tree's curved trunk lived a miniature girl no bigger than Maya's thumb, with hair like spun sunlight.

"I'm Pip!" the tiny girl chirped, swinging down on a vine. "And you're my new friend!"

Maya's eyes widened. "But I'm just regular Maya. Nobody special."

Pip giggled and pulled a pouch from her pocket. Inside were star-shaped bits of light that shimmered like captured sunshine. "These are dream vitamins! One bite, and you'll see the magic inside yourself."

Maya hesitated, then popped one into her mouth. It tasted like strawberry wishes.

Suddenly, everything transformed. The palm tree's leaves became shimmering wings. The grass turned to emerald velvet. Maya looked down at her hands—they sparkled like she'd swallowed a galaxy.

"You've always been magic," Pip whispered. "You just needed the right vitamin to see it."

From that day on, Maya wasn't lonely. She visited her tiny friend every afternoon, taking dream vitamins when she forgot her own courage. Together, they painted rainbows on clouds and sang songs to the stars.

The real magic wasn't in the vitamins at all, Maya realized. It was having someone who believed in you—even if that someone was a thumb-sized girl living in a palm tree.

Now whenever Maya sees another child sitting alone, she knows exactly what to do. She offers them her hand and says, "Want to see something wonderful?"

Because everyone deserves a friend who helps them discover their own light.
