The Dream-Swimming Palm

Seven-year-old Lily missed her grandmother terribly. Gran lived across the ocean, and Lily hadn't seen her in months. Every evening, Lily whispered wishes to the moon.

"Please let me visit Gran. Just once."

One afternoon, Lily noticed something strange in her backyard. A palm tree stood where there had only been empty space before. Its leaves shimmered golden, and at its base grew bright green leaves that looked exactly like spinach - except they sparkled like tiny stars.

A tiny wind sprite drifted from the palm.

"These are special leaves," the sprite whispered. "They're filled with dream-swimming vitamins from this magic palm tree. Eat one before sleep, and you can swim through your dreams like they're oceans."

That night, Lily ate a sparkling spinach leaf and closed her eyes.

Suddenly, she was swimming through beautiful blue light, warm like ocean waves. She swam past clouds like coral reefs and stars like glowing fish until she found Gran's dream, glowing like a pearl in the distance.

"Lily! You swam all this way just to see me?"

They spent the night sharing stories and laughter in a dream that felt more real than waking. When Lily woke, she still felt Gran's hug.

Every night, Lily ate a dream-swimming vitamin and visited Gran. They planted imaginary gardens and had tea parties on cloud-boats.

But the wind sprite had warned her: "The magic leaves won't last forever."

Eventually, the sparkling spinach disappeared. Lily cried, thinking she'd never see Gran again.

That night, without any magic vitamins, Lily dreamed anyway. And there was Gran, waiting in the dream-ocean.

"I'm still here," Gran's voice echoed like gentle waves. "The leaves only showed you what was already true - love swims through any ocean. You never needed magic to find me."

Lily understood. The real magic wasn't in the palm tree or its vitamins. It was in the love that connected them across any distance, stronger than tides and brighter than stars.

And every night after, Lily swam through dreams to visit Gran - no magic required, just the power of love that knows no boundaries at all.
