The Dog Who Saved Zombie's Baseball Game

Buster was no ordinary **dog**. While other dogs chased cats or napped in the sun, Buster loved **baseball** more than anything in the world. Every afternoon, he would sit by the old sandlot, watching the neighborhood kids play, his tail thumping a steady rhythm against the wooden fence.

One day, as the sun began to set behind the hills, Buster noticed something strange. A lumpy figure shambled out from behind the old oak tree. It was greenish, moved stiffly, and looked like... a **zombie**! Buster's ears perked up. Most dogs would have run away, but Buster was curious.

The zombie let out a sad groan and kicked a baseball that had rolled into the weeds. Buster trotted over, his tail wagging gently. The zombie froze.

"Don't be scared," Buster barked in dog language. The zombie's pale face seemed to brighten. It picked up a glove and tossed the ball to Buster. Perfect catch!

They played until the stars appeared. The zombie, whose name was Zee, explained that he wasn't scary at all. He was just lonely and loved baseball but never had anyone to play with. His greenish color came from spending too much time in his magical garden.

"That's why you're green!" Buster realized. "You've been eating too much **spinach** from your garden!"

Zee laughed, a rusty sound like leaves in the wind. "Maybe so. But spinach gives me energy to play all day!"

The next afternoon, Buster brought all the neighborhood kids to meet Zee. At first, they were nervous. But when Zee hit a home run that cleared the trees and did a funny little dance, everyone cheered. They realized Zee wasn't a zombie to fear—he was the best baseball player any of them had ever seen!

Soon, Zee's garden became everyone's favorite hangout. He taught them that spinach was actually delicious, especially when grilled with a little olive oil. And Buster? He became the team mascot, wearing a tiny cap and barking happily whenever someone scored.

Sometimes the best friends come from the most unexpected places. And sometimes, things that seem scary at first turn out to be wonderful—you just have to be brave enough to say hello.
