The Dog Who Saved Grumpy Cloud

Lily's golden retriever, Barnaby, was no ordinary dog. He could catch frisbees mid-air, shake hands on command, and somehow always knew when Lily was sad before she even cried.

One cloudy afternoon, Barnaby started barking at the sky. Not his usual 'squirrel alert' bark, but something more urgent.

"What is it, buddy?" Lily asked, following his gaze.

High above them floated a gray, droopy cloud that looked half-asleep. Its puffy edges had gone limp, and it drifted slower than the other clouds.

"That's a zombie cloud!" said Lily's grandmother, appearing on the porch. "Clouds get that way when they lose their sparkle vitamins. They forget how to rain, how to make rainbows, even how to stay fluffy."

Barnaby whined, pawing at the air.

Lily's eyes widened. "We have to help!"

In her grandmother's garden shed, they found everything they needed: orange juice for sunshine vitamin, berry juice for color vitamin, and a sprinkle of glitter for magic vitamin. They mixed it all in a big bucket while Barnaby danced around, his tail thumping like a drum.

"Now how do we get it up there?" Lily wondered.

Barnaby had an idea. He grabbed his favorite frisbee and held it up. Lily poured the sparkling vitamin mixture onto the frisbee, then with all her might, threw it toward the zombie cloud.

Higher and higher it sailed, until—SPLAT! The vitamin potion splashed across the gray cloud.

For a moment, nothing happened. Then... PING!

The cloud's edges started to curl. Its gray color turned pink, then purple, then brilliant white. It puffed up like a pillow getting fluffed, and suddenly—RAINBOW!

The most beautiful rainbow Lily had ever seen arched across the sky. And from the now-happy cloud, tiny droplets of glitter rain fell down, sparkling like diamonds.

Barnaby barked joyfully, jumping to catch the sparkles on his nose.

"You saved a cloud," Lily's grandmother said. "Sometimes things that look scary or broken just need a little help."

That night, as Lily fell asleep with Barnaby curled at her feet, she knew something wonderful: with a little creativity and a loyal friend beside you, even zombie clouds could find their sparkle again.
