The Dog Who Ran Like Lightning

Bolt was a small golden dog with floppy ears and a big heart. Every day, he loved running through the meadow behind his house, chasing butterflies and racing with the wind. But no matter how fast Bolt ran, he was never the fastest. The rabbits zoomed past him, and even the old neighbor's cat could outrun him when she wanted to.

One stormy evening, while Bolt was running home, a strange bolt of lightning flashed across the sky. It didn't strike the ground — instead, it swirled around Bolt like a glowing ribbon. Suddenly, Bolt felt tingles all through his paws. He felt different. Lighter. Faster.

The next morning, Mrs. Higgins was crying. Her granddaughter was sick in the hospital across town, and the medicine she needed wouldn't arrive until tomorrow. Bolt's ears perked up. This was his chance!

Bolt took off running — and WHOOSH! He was moving faster than ever before. Trees blurred past. The wind whooshed. Bolt was running as fast as lightning itself! He zipped through the town, a golden streak fur faster than anyone had ever seen.

In just minutes, Bolt reached the pharmacy on the other side of town, barked urgently to get the pharmacist's attention, and led the amazed woman to follow him back to Mrs. Higgins' house. The medicine arrived in record time.

That night, Bolt curled up beside Mrs. Higgins, who was smiling through tears. Her granddaughter would be okay. Bolt realized something important: his gift wasn't about showing off or winning races. It was about helping others.

From that day on, whenever someone in town needed help fast, Bolt was there — a loyal friend running as swift as lightning, proving that the best kind of speed is the kind that serves kindness.
