The Dog Who Made Friends with a Zombie
Max was a golden retriever who loved adventure more than anything in the world. One sunny afternoon, while exploring near the old creek behind his house, he found something strange half-buried in the mud. It was an iPhone!
Max knew iPhones belonged to humans. Using his nose, he carefully dug it out and carried it gently in his mouth, trotting back to his favorite spot by the water's edge. The phone still worked! Max accidentally tapped the screen with his wet nose, and suddenly, a glowing blue app appeared.
"Hello, friend!" a voice floated from the phone. Max jumped and dropped it in the shallow water. But as he reached to grab it, something magical happened. From the rippling water emerged a green figure with messy hair and friendly eyes.
"I'm Ziggy!" the figure said. "I'm a water zombie, but don't worry—I only eat fish, not brains!" Max tilted his head. This zombie wasn't scary at all. He was covered in sparkling water droplets and smiled with crooked but kind teeth.
Ziggy explained that he'd been lonely for hundreds of years, living quietly in the creek. The magical app on the iPhone was the only way he could talk to someone from above the water. Max wagged his tail furiously.
Every day after that, Max visited Ziggy by the water. He would bring the iPhone (kept safe in a plastic bag now) so they could chat and play games. Ziggy taught Max how to skip stones perfectly. Max taught Ziggy how to fetch sticks from the riverbank without getting too tired.
The other dogs in the neighborhood thought Max was crazy, talking to water and carrying around an iPhone. But Max didn't care. He knew that sometimes, the things that seem scary or different at first turn out to be the best friends of all.
And Ziggy? For the first time in hundreds of years, the water zombie didn't feel lonely. He had a friend who saw past his green skin and zombie name, straight to his kind heart.
Some days, Max thought friendship was the greatest magic of all—even more magical than a talking iPhone or a zombie who lived in a creek.
