The Dog Who Knew Secrets

Sophie loved playing spy. With her magnifying glass and notebook, she would sneak around her backyard looking for clues. Her golden retriever, Buster, would always follow—his tail wagging like a happy metronome.

Every morning, Sophie's grandmother gave her a green vitamin. "For strong bones and bright eyes," Grandma would say. But Sophie noticed something strange. Whenever she took her vitamin, Buster would stare at her with his head tilted, as if he were trying to tell her something important.

One hot afternoon, Sophie and Buster followed a trickling stream behind their house. The water sparkled like diamonds in the sunlight. Suddenly, Buster stopped and barked—not his usual happy bark, but a serious sound that said *follow me*.

Sophie crept behind Buster, feeling like a real spy on a secret mission. They pushed through tall grass until they reached a hidden pond. In the middle floated a baby duck, chirping helplessly. It was stuck!

"Buster, we have to help!" Sophie whispered. But the water was too deep to wade through.

Buster looked at Sophie with his big brown eyes. She swore he nodded. Then the most amazing thing happened—Buster began to glow with a soft green light, the same color as Sophie's morning vitamin!

*The vitamins weren't just for Sophie,* she realized. *They were magic gifts for both of us!*

With his new powers, Buster ran across the water's surface, leaving ripples of glowing light. He gently nudged the baby duck toward shore, where Sophie scooped it up and reunited it with its mother.

"You're a hero!" Sophie hugged her magical dog. Buster licked her face, his tail thumping happily.

From that day on, Sophie understood that playing spy wasn't just about pretending. Sometimes, the best adventures are the ones where you help others. And sometimes, the most ordinary things—like a daily vitamin or a faithful dog—hold the most extraordinary magic of all.
