The Dog Who Could Spy

Luna had a secret. Her dog Bruno wasn't just a regular golden retriever — he was magical.

Every afternoon, Luna and Bruno would go swimming in their backyard pool. The water always sparkled like diamonds in the sunlight, and Bruno loved to splash around, chasing bubbles and diving beneath the surface. But Luna noticed something strange. After swimming, Bruno would shake himself dry, and tiny droplets would shimmer with rainbow colors that shouldn't exist in real sunlight.

"What do you see down there, Bruno?" Luna asked, scratching behind his ears.

Bruno woofed and nudged her hand toward the pool. That's when Luna saw it — a tiny hand, no bigger than a seashell, reaching up from the water. Then a face popped up! It was a little girl with hair made of flowing seaweed and eyes that glowed like pearls.

"Hello!" the water girl said. "Bruno has been telling us about you. He's our spy between worlds!"

Luna gasped. "You can talk? And Bruno's a SPY?"

"Not a spy like in movies," the water girl giggled. "A friendship spy! He tells us about your world, and we wanted to meet you too. My name is Coral. Come swimming with us!"

Luna jumped into the water. Suddenly, she could breathe underwater! Beneath the surface, the pool bottom opened into a magical kingdom where tiny merpeople swam with glowing fish. They showed Luna treasure chests filled with memories instead of gold, and gardens where flowers bloomed in patterns of happiness.

"Bruno brings us joy every day," Coral explained. "Dogs can sense magic that grown-ups forget. That's why he loves swimming so much!"

Luna learned that summer that magic exists everywhere, especially in friendship. Bruno wasn't just her pet — he was a bridge between worlds, teaching her that wonder lives in the most unexpected places, even right in her own backyard pool.
