The Dog Who Could Fly
Lily loved her golden dog, Sunny. He was ordinary in every way—except for his nose. It could smell magic from miles away.
One Tuesday, Sunny dug up something strange in the garden: glowing spinach leaves that shimmered like tiny stars. "Don't eat those!" Lily cried, but Sunny had already gobbled them down.
Suddenly, Sunny's paws lifted off the ground! He floated three feet in the air, spinning happily.
"You're a flying dog!" Lily laughed.
But Sunny had new powers too. His ears twitched. "Lily," he whispered, "I can hear Mrs. Higgins crying next door. Her cat is stuck in a tree!"
"You can talk?" Lily gasped.
"The spinach made me a spy," Sunny explained. "A spy for helping people!"
Lily climbed onto Sunny's back, and they soared through the sky like shooting stars. They rescued Mrs. Higgins' cat, found lost toys, and even helped the postman deliver letters during a storm.
Every evening, they played padel in the park—Sunny's favorite game. He would use his tail like a racket, hitting the ball back to Lily with magical precision. Children gathered to watch the flying dog play, cheering wildly.
"Being a spy is fun," Sunny said one day, "but being your friend is the best adventure of all."
The spinach magic eventually faded, but Sunny and Lily didn't mind. They had discovered something more powerful than magic: true friendship doesn't need spinach to make it special.
Sometimes, they still found Sunny floating slightly off the ground in his sleep, dreaming of their adventures together. And Lily knew that the best magic of all was having a friend who would always be there for you—flying or not.
