The Dog Who Caught Stars
Benny was a small golden dog with ears that flopped when he ran and a tail that never stopped wagging. Every day, he watched the children play baseball in the park near his house. How he wished he could play too!
One hot afternoon, Benny lay beneath an old palm tree, panting in the shade. The palm fronds swished gently above him, sounding like whispers. "If you could catch anything in the world," the tree seemed to say, "what would it be?"
Benny perked up his ears. He knew exactly what he wanted.
That night, when the moon rose like a giant silver baseball in the sky, something magical happened. Benny's favorite tennis ball began to glow. It rolled out the doggy door and into the backyard. Benny scrambled after it, his paws clicking softly on the grass.
The glowing ball bounced higher and higher—over the fence, into the air, up past the rooftop! Benny jumped, his golden fur shimmering in the moonlight. And miraculously, he didn't come down.
He was floating, leaping through the night sky, chasing the glowing ball as it soared toward the moon. The stars around him twinkled like fireflies.
"Catch me!" the ball seemed to call.
Benny sprang with all his might, jaws wide—and caught not the ball, but a falling star! It burned bright and warm in his mouth, smelling of sunshine and dreams.
As Benny gently carried the star back to earth, he understood something wonderful: the real magic wasn't catching stars. It was having the courage to chase your dreams, no matter how impossible they seemed.
The next morning, the children found Benny sleeping peacefully beside a new baseball that shimmered with an otherworldly glow. And from that day on, whenever Benny played fetch with his friends, the ball would always find its way back to his paws—as if the stars themselves were cheering him on.
Because the bravest dreams begin with a single leap of faith.
