The Dog Who Caught Stars
Buster was a small golden dog with floppy ears and a big dream. Every evening, he watched the children playing baseball in the park, his tail thumping with joy as he imagined running across the grass himself.
One day, behind the old oak tree, Buster found something strange—a shiny iPhone with a glowing rainbow cable attached to it. The cable stretched up, up, up into the sky like a magical vine. Buster's nose twitched with curiosity.
When his paw touched the screen, WHOOSH! The cable pulled him upward, and suddenly Buster was floating above a cloud baseball field where the stars came to play!
"Welcome!" cheered a friendly star wearing a baseball cap. "We're the Star League, and we need a fourth player for the championship game. Will you join us?"
Buster's heart soared. He had never played baseball before, but the stars believed in him. They gave him a special glowing baseball that felt warm in his mouth, like sunshine.
"Remember," whispered the brightest star, "the most important thing isn't winning—it's having fun and helping your friends."
The game began! Buster ran faster than he ever had before. He caught fly balls in his mouth and slid across clouds like they were slippery grass. But when the Moon Team was winning by one run, Buster saw the smallest star strike out. She looked so sad.
Buster did something surprising. Instead of trying to hit a home run, he bunted gently and let the smallest star tag him out so she could feel proud of making a play.
The Star League lost, but everyone was smiling. The little star hugged Buster. "You're the best teammate ever!"
The rainbow cable appeared again, lowering Buster gently back to the park. The iPhone vanished, but in its place was a beautiful baseball-shaped locket on a silver chain. Inside was a tiny real star.
Now whenever Buster watched children play baseball, he wore his locket and knew that true magic wasn't in winning—it was in friendship, kindness, and believing in yourself and others.
And sometimes, if you look closely at the sky, you can still see Buster chasing star-balls across the clouds, playing the most wonderful game in the universe.
