The Dog Who Caught Lightning

Lily loved to spy on the clouds from her bedroom window. Every evening, she'd watch them drift by, imagining what secrets they carried. Her golden retriever, Sparky, would always sit beside her, his nose pressed against the glass, watching too.

One stormy night, Lily noticed something strange. Whenever lightning flashed across the sky, Sparky's fur would glow softly, like he was storing the light inside him.

"Sparky, come here!" Lily whispered, pulling him closer. Another bolt of lightning crackled outside, and this time, Sparky barked—not his regular bark, but a sound like bells ringing.

Suddenly, Sparky dashed to the back door, scratching to get out. Lily opened it, and they both ran into the rainy yard. Lightning bolts danced across the dark sky like silver ribbons. Sparky jumped and twirled, his coat shimmering with each flash.

Then, the impossible happened. A tiny bolt of lightning zipped toward Sparky, and he caught it gently in his mouth! The lightning wasn't hot or scary—it looked like liquid light, warm and friendly.

Sparky carried the lightning bolt back to Lily and dropped it carefully into her hands. It felt like holding a piece of star, humming with gentle energy.

"You're a lightning dog!" Lily gasped.

Sparky wagged his tail proudly. For the whole storm, they played together—catching lightning bolts, weaving them into crowns that glowed and sparkled, making the rainy night magical.

When the storm passed, Sparky nudged Lily's hand. She understood: some secrets are meant to be shared, but only with those you trust. The lightning had chosen them because they were best friends.

That night, Lily learned that the world is full of magic if you're brave enough to spy for it, and that the best adventures happen with your best friend by your side.
