The Dog Who Caught Lightning

Barnaby was a small golden **dog** with floppy ears and a very curious nose. Every afternoon, he would trot through the garden, sniffing everything twice. One rainy afternoon, something tumbled from the sky and landed right in front of him — a magnificent purple **hat** with silver stars embroidered around the brim.

Barnaby nudged the magical hat with his wet nose. Suddenly, a bolt of **lightning** crackled through the dark clouds and struck the hat! But instead of burning it, the lightning transformed into glowing orange pills that tumbled out.

Curious, Barnaby sniffed one. It smelled like sunshine and adventure. He licked it up, and suddenly, he could understand human speech! An old wizard appeared beside him, laughing.

"Those are my special **vitamin** tablets," the wizard said. "Each one gives a different gift. You've taken the Communication Vitamin!"

Barnaby could now talk! He told the wizard about his lonely days in the garden. The wizard smiled and offered more vitamins — but warned that each gift came with responsibility.

Barnaby took the Courage Vitamin and helped a scared kitten down from a tree. He took the Kindness Vitamin and cheered up a crying neighbor. His garden became a place of wonder and friendship.

That night, Barnaby realized something wonderful: he hadn't needed magic vitamins all along. He had always been brave, kind, and curious. The magic was inside his heart all along.

From then on, Barnaby wore his purple hat proudly, not for its magic, but to remind everyone that the best power is helping others. And sometimes, on stormy afternoons, he still chased lightning bolts — just for the joy of the adventure.
