The Dog Who Caught Lightning

Barnaby was a small golden dog with big dreams. Every summer evening, he watched the children play baseball in the park, his tail wagging hopefully. But dogs weren't allowed on the field.

One stormy afternoon, as the children ran home from dark clouds, Barnaby stayed behind. Something magical glinted in the grass—a baseball made of pure starlight, left behind by mistake. Just as Barnaby nosed it, a bolt of lightning struck the ball!

Instead of running away, Barnaby caught the glowing baseball in his mouth. Zap! His fur turned sparkly blue. When he barked, little lightning bolts danced around his paws. The magical baseball had given him special powers!

That night, under millions of twinkling stars, Barnaby tossed the lightning ball into the air. It soared higher and higher until it landed on the moon. But the moon wasn't empty—a magnificent bull with constellation-markings caught it!

The bull tossed the ball back, and they played catch across the night sky. Lightning followed every throw, painting the dark with beautiful ribbons of light. Barnaby had never been happier.

From then on, every stormy night, Barnaby would sneak to the park. The children never knew why lightning sometimes looked like a dog playing fetch with the stars. But if you looked closely during a storm, you might see a golden dog running through the clouds, chasing a baseball made of lightning, while his friend the bull watched from above.

Barnaby learned something wonderful: Sometimes the things that seem scary—like storms—can bring the most magical adventures if you're brave enough to face them with a wagging tail.
