The Dog Who Caught Lightning

Max was a small golden dog with a big dream. Every afternoon, he watched the children play baseball in the park. His tail wagged so hard that his whole body wiggled. How he wished he could join them!

One stormy evening, as thunder rumbled like a giant's tummy, Max saw something magical. A tiny bolt of lightning danced across the sky, then spiraled down like a glowing baseball. It landed right in front of his paws!

The lightning-ball felt warm and tingled when Max touched it. Suddenly, he could understand everything the children were saying. He heard them wishing they had one more player for their big game tomorrow.

"I can play!" Max barked, but it came out as real words!

The children stared in wonder. From that moment on, Max became the most amazing baseball player anyone had ever seen. When he ran, his paws left little trails of light like tiny lightning bolts. When he caught the ball, it flashed like summer lightning.

But Max discovered something even more magical than his new powers. His teammate Emma was afraid of the ball. She always ducked when it came her way.

Max remembered how scared he felt when lightning struck. He sat beside Emma and let her pet his soft golden fur. "The lightning gave me courage," he told her. "I'll share it with you."

During the big game, Emma caught the winning ball while Max cheered louder than anyone. That night, Max learned that real magic wasn't about lightning or being special. It was about helping friends believe in themselves.

Now Max and Emma play baseball together every day. And sometimes, when Max hits a home run, a little spark of lightning flashes across the sky, as if the storm is winking at him.

The children never knew where Max came from or where he got his magic. But they knew the most important thing of all: friendship is the greatest superpower of all.
