The Dog Behind the Television

Barnaby never ate his spinach. He always pushed it to the side of his plate, hoping his mom wouldn't notice.

One rainy afternoon, Barnaby was watching television when something strange happened. The thick cable behind the TV started to wiggle and glow. Suddenly, a small dog popped right through the cable!

The dog had the fluffiest hair Barnaby had ever seen—it stuck out in every direction like a golden cloud. Barnaby rubbed his eyes, but the dog was still there, wagging his tail.

"I'm Buster," said the dog, and Barnaby nearly fell off his chair. Dogs couldn't talk!

"I come from the Land Behind the Screens," Buster explained. "Our magic garden is dying because children won't eat their vegetables. Each time you push spinach away, another fairy flower loses its petals."

Barnaby felt terrible. "I didn't know!" he cried.

"Come with me!" Buster said. "I'll show you."

Barnaby reached for the dog's paw, and suddenly they were running through a rainbow tunnel. They landed in a garden where everything was glowing—except for one corner where the flowers drooped sadly.

"Those flowers grow from spinach magic," Buster said softly. "When children eat spinach, it helps our garden bloom."

Barnaby looked at his own hands, which now sparkled with green light. "If I eat spinach, I can help save the magic garden?"

Buster nodded. "And you'll grow strong enough for any adventure."

When Barnaby returned home, there was still spinach on his plate. This time, he ate every bite—and discovered it tasted amazing! The dog appeared one last time, his hair even fluffier than before.

"Thank you, Barnaby," Buster whispered, and then disappeared back through the cable, leaving behind a single glowing spinach leaf.

From that day on, Barnaby ate all his vegetables, knowing that somewhere magical, flowers were blooming just for him.
