The Day the Pool Turned Orange
Mittens the cat and Buster the dog were best friends who did everything together. They played catch, shared treats, and napped in the same sunny patch of grass. But their favorite thing was playing baseball by the pool in Buster's backyard.
One hot afternoon, Mittens held the bat with her paws while Buster pitched. Crack! The ball sailed through the air and landed right in the middle of the crystal blue pool with a splash.
"Oh no!" cried Buster. "Now we have to get it!"
Just then, an orange rolled out of the lunch bag on the patio. It had been sitting in the sun and looked glowing and magical. Mittens had an idea. "What if the orange can help us?"
She batted the orange toward the pool, and something amazing happened. When the orange hit the water, the pool didn't splash—it shimmered! The blue water turned a brilliant orange, glowing like sunshine. Sparkles floated up from the surface, smelling like citrus dreams.
Buster's eyes went wide. "Did you see that?"
Suddenly, the baseball floated up from the bottom, riding on a bubble of orange light. The bubble carried it right to their feet. But that wasn't all. The orange glow revealed something hidden at the bottom of the pool—glimmering seashells and colorful stones that had never been there before!
Mittens and Buster looked at each other with wonder. The orange had turned an ordinary day into something magical.
"Sometimes," Mittens purred, "the best surprises come when we try something new."
From that day on, whenever they played baseball by the pool, they kept an orange nearby, just in case. They never forgot that the most wonderful adventures can come from the most unexpected places—and that friendship makes everything more magical.
