The Day Finny Ran

Lily loved her goldfish Finny more than anything in the world. Every morning before school, she would tap three times on his glass bowl and whisper, "Good morning, my friend." Finny would always swim to the surface and blow bubbles that looked just like tiny pearls.

One rainy Saturday, Lily's grandmother came to visit. She was a scientist who studied special vitamins from around the world. Grandma reached into her pocket and pulled out a shimmering blue vitamin. "This," she said with twinkling eyes, "is a vitamin of wonder. It grants one special wish to anyone who truly believes in magic."

Lily knew exactly what to wish for. She dropped the vitamin into Finny's bowl. Suddenly, the water turned rainbow-colored! Finny swam through the colors, growing stronger with every stroke. Then something amazing happened — Finny grew two tiny legs!

"Lily!" Finny said in a bubbly voice. "I can talk! And look... I'm running!" Finny leaped out of his bowl and began running across Lily's desk on his little orange legs. His scales sparkled like golden coins.

"Let's go on an adventure!" Finny cheered.

Lily and Finny spent the whole day running through the house. They raced down the hallway, slid down the stairs on a pillow, and even had a running contest in the backyard. Finny was fast for such a little fish!

But as the sun began to set, Finny started to slow down. "I'm getting tired, Lily," he said sadly. "I think the vitamin is wearing off."

Lily scooped up her friend and placed him gently back in his bowl. Finny's legs disappeared, and he was a regular goldfish again. But something had changed between them.

"That was the best day ever," Finny said, swimming happily. "Thank you for believing in me, Lily."

Lily tapped three times on his bowl. "I'll always believe in you, Finny. Whether you can run or swim, you're my best friend."

From that day on, Lily and Finny knew that true friendship isn't about being the same or doing the same things. It's about believing in each other's dreams, even the impossible ones. And sometimes, just sometimes, a little bit of magic can help you see that the best adventures are the ones you share with someone who truly cares about you.
