The Crystal Pyramid's Secret
Barnaby was a small bear with very big dreams. Every night, he would gaze at the stars and wonder what magical worlds lay beyond his forest home.
One sparkling morning, Barnaby discovered a pool he'd never seen before. Its water shimmered like liquid diamonds, and at its center floated a tiny crystal pyramid that glowed with rainbow light.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" purred a silver cat who appeared beside him. Her name was Luna, and she had been guardian of the magic pool for three hundred years.
"What's inside the pyramid?" Barnaby asked, his nose twitching with curiosity.
"One wish," Luna whispered. "But only those who prove their kindness may reach it."
Barnaby's eyes widened. A wish! He could wish for endless honey, or a coat made of stardust, or the ability to fly like the eagles.
"How do I reach it?" The pyramid floated far from the pool's edge.
Luna flicked her tail toward an old cable that stretched across the water—a forgotten rope from long ago, now covered in magical moss. "Many have tried to cross. None have succeeded."
Barnaby approached the cable. It swayed gently over the glowing water. His heart fluttered like a trapped butterfly.
He placed one paw on the cable. It held. Then another. Slowly, carefully, Barnaby began to crawl across. Halfway across, he looked down—and saw his reflection in the magical pool. But the bear staring back wasn't thinking about honey or stardust or flying.
The reflected Barnaby was thinking about his sick friend, a little fox who couldn't play anymore.
Barnaby understood. The true wish had been in his heart all along.
He reached the crystal pyramid and closed his eyes. "I wish for my friend to be well again."
The pyramid blazed with light, brighter than a thousand fireflies. The magic surged through the cable, through the pool, and out into the forest.
When Barnaby returned to shore, Luna was smiling. "You chose love over greed. That is the greatest magic of all."
That evening, the little fox was running and playing as if he'd never been sick. And Barnaby, the small bear with very big dreams, learned that the best wishes are the ones we make for others.
