The Coconut of Courage
Lila lived on a tiny island where the sand sparkled like sugar and the ocean whispered secrets to anyone who listened. She loved nothing more than swimming in the turquoise water, diving beneath the waves to meet her fish friends.
One morning, she noticed something unusual. High in the oldest palm tree on the beach hung a single golden coconut—glowing softly as if captured sunshine lived inside it. The tree's fronds waved at her, beckoning her closer.
"Come up, little friend," rustled the palm. "I have something special for you."
Lila climbed carefully, her bare toes gripping the rough bark. When she reached the golden coconut, it popped open into her hands. Inside wasn't ordinary coconut water—it was liquid rainbow, shimmering with every color imaginable.
"This," said the palm tree wisely, "is a very special vitamin. Not one you swallow, but one you share. It's the Vitamin of Courage."
Lila didn't understand. How could a vitamin be shared?
Her answer came that afternoon when she went swimming. A baby sea turtle was tangled in a discarded fishing net, struggling desperately. Lila had always been afraid of deep water, but now her hands tingled with the golden liquid's warmth. She dove deeper than ever before, her heart thumping like a tiny drum.
The Vitamin of Courage didn't make her unafraid—it made her brave anyway.
She untangled the turtle, and it nuzzled her hand gratefully before swimming off. As Lila surfaced, she noticed her fingertips glowing faintly gold. The vitamin hadn't disappeared—it had multiplied!
Suddenly, she understood. The palm tree had given her courage so she could share it. Every time she used her bravery, the vitamin grew stronger inside her and spread to others.
The sea turtle returned with its entire family, and together they performed an underwater dance just for her. Lila realized that courage, like the golden coconut's gift, was meant to be shared, not kept.
From that day on, whenever someone needed bravery, Lila would hold their hand, and her palms would glow with that familiar golden light. The Vitamin of Courage had found its perfect home in a girl who understood that the best magic is the kind you give away.
