The Cloud Who Forgot How to Smile
Lily was a girl who loved to look up at the sky. One summer evening, she saw something strange—a gray cloud floating lower than all the others, bumping gently against her bedroom window.
"Hello?" Lily whispered.
The cloud sighed, a sound like rustling leaves. "I'm a zombie cloud," it said sadly. "I forgot how to make rain. I forgot how to thunder. I'm just... floating."
Her orange tabby cat, Mango, jumped onto the windowsill and purred. His tail twitched with curiosity.
"You need a magic vitamin!" Lily exclaimed, remembering how her grandmother said vitamins help things grow strong again.
"What's a cloud vitamin?" the zombie cloud wondered.
Lily thought hard. Then she noticed Mango chasing something—a glowing golden firefly dancing in the twilight.
"That's it!" Lily cried. She opened the window wide and caught the firefly gently in her hands. The firefly's light was warm and tingly, like tiny stars dancing on her palms.
"Cloud vitamins are made of light and laughter!" Lily said. She blew the firefly's glowing dust toward the gray cloud.
Mango meowed excitedly and did a little dance, making Lily giggle. Her laughter bubbled up and joined the firefly's light.
Something magical happened. The zombie cloud began to shimmer. Gray turned to silver, then to soft pink. The cloud puffed up, round and fluffy again.
"I remember!" the cloud cheered. "I make RAINBOWS!" And suddenly, arcing across the evening sky, the most beautiful rainbow appeared.
"Thank you, Lily. Thank you, Mango," the cloud said, rising up to join the other clouds. "You taught me that sometimes, what makes us better isn't medicine. It's friendship and laughter."
That night, Lily fell asleep dreaming of clouds, while Mango purred at the foot of her bed. And somewhere up in the sky, a very happy cloud made gentle rain, watering all the gardens below.
The moral? Even zombie clouds can find their sparkle again—with a little help from friends, a curious cat, and the magic of laughter.
