The Cloud Who Forgot How to Rain

Lily lived in a town where the clouds had stopped crying. For three whole weeks, not a single drop of water had fallen from the sky. The flowers drooped their heads. The squirrels lay panting in the shade. Even the brave little sparrows looked tired.

One evening, Lily climbed to the top of Sunshine Hill and saw something strange. A great fluffy cloud was floating near the ground, bumping into trees and fences. It looked gray and patchy, like it was falling apart piece by piece.

"Are you a zombie cloud?" Lily asked gently. She'd heard zombie stories at school, but this cloud didn't seem scary—just very, very tired.

The cloud made a sad rumbling sound. "I forgot how to rain," it whispered. "I've been carrying so much water for so long, but I can't remember how to let it go. Now I'm heavy and empty all at once."

Lily's heart went out to the lonely cloud. She knew exactly what to do. Her grandmother had taught her about the magic vitamins found in rainbow berries—special fruits that grew only on Sunshine Hill during the longest dry spells.

"I can help!" Lily said. She scrambled up the rocky slope until she found the rainbow berry bush. The berries sparkled with every color imaginable: red like sunrise, orange like butterflies, yellow like dandelions. Each berry was packed with water and sunshine—nature's perfect vitamin.

Lily gathered as many as she could carry and ran back to the cloud. "Eat these," she said. "They're water vitamins. They'll help you remember."

The cloud nibbled one berry, then another. Suddenly, it began to shimmer and glow. The gray patches turned white and fluffy again. The cloud grew bigger and brighter, floating higher into the sky.

"I remember!" the cloud cheered. "Thank you, Lily! You taught me that even when things feel heavy, there's always help if you're brave enough to ask for it."

The cloud let out a joyful rumble—and then it rained. Not a scary storm, but a gentle, wonderful rain that smelled like ozone and hope. Lily danced in the falling water, laughing as the flowers lifted their heads and the squirrels started to play again.

From that day on, whenever the sky grew gray, the townspeople didn't worry. They knew their cloud friend was just visiting, and Lily would always know how to help it remember who it really was.

And sometimes, if you look carefully during a light rain, you might see rainbow-colored drops falling—special water vitamins from a cloud who never forgot the kindness of a little girl.
