The Cloud Dog's Gift

Emma loved to climb the hill behind her house, especially when the wind blew through the meadow. She would stand on her tiptoes and catch pieces of cloud as they drifted low, tangling them in her fingers like fluffy cotton candy.

One afternoon, she spotted something peculiar—a small, scruffy dog wagging its tail beside an old oak tree. But this wasn't just any dog. Its fur shimmered with the same soft glow as the clouds, and when Emma looked closely, she could see tiny starlings nesting in its cloud-like hair.

"Hello there, little friend," Emma whispered, kneeling down.

The dog stepped forward and pressed its cool nose against her palm. In that moment, Emma understood everything. This magical creature gathered lost bits of dreams from the sky and wove them into the clouds, making sure no wish ever faded away completely.

But the dog looked sad. One of its paws was caught in a tangle of thorny blackberry vines.

Emma gently freed the creature's paw. "There now, you're free."

The grateful dog licked her cheek, leaving behind a speck of cloud-dust that sparkled like pixie glitter. Then it did something wonderful—it pulled a wisp of glowing cloud hair from its own fur and placed it in Emma's hand.

"This is for you," the dog seemed to say without speaking. "Your dream is safe now."

Emma wrapped the cloud hair around her wrist like a bracelet. That night, as she drifted to sleep, she saw her dream floating outside her window—a real flying bicycle, just like she'd always wanted, built from cloud-stuff and stardust.

The cloud dog visited her often after that, and Emma learned that the best friends are the ones who help keep your dreams safe, even when they're made of nothing but imagination and hope.
