The Cloud Bull's Secret
Lily lived in a house with a window that looked straight up at the sky. Every night, she waved goodnight to the stars.
One evening, she noticed something strange. A fluffy white cloud shaped like a sleeping bull floated near her window. Its horns were made of shimmering stardust.
The next night, a tiny firefly with glowing blue wings landed on her windowsill. 'I'm Pip,' the firefly squeaked. 'I've been spying on that Cloud Bull for weeks.' He looked worried. 'But I'm not sneaking around for bad reasons. I'm trying to protect him.'
Lily's eyes widened. 'Protect him from what?'
Pip explained that the Cloud Bull was magical. Every morning at dawn, he would wake up and dance across the sky, turning regular clouds into rain clouds. 'His rain makes flowers grow extra tall and apple trees extra sweet,' Pip said. 'But Storm Giants want to catch him and keep him forever in their dark castle.'
'Will you be my friend?' Lily asked Pip. 'Together, we can save the Cloud Bull.'
Pip buzzed with happiness. 'Yes! And I know just what to do.'
That night, Lily and Pip hid behind Lily's curtains and waited. Just before sunrise, the Storm Giants came floating through the sky — big, shadowy shapes with thunder in their chests.
'NOW!' shouted Pip.
Lily rushed to her window and flipped on her flashlight, blinking it in a special pattern: three quick flashes, then three long ones. The Cloud Bull woke up instantly. His stardust horns glowed brighter than a thousand lightning bugs!
The Storm Giants shrank back. They couldn't stand such pure, happy light. With a rumble of disappointment, they floated away into the darkness.
The Cloud Bull nodded at Lily and Pip. Then he danced across the dawn sky, leaving behind the most beautiful rainbow anyone had ever seen.
'You're the best friend ever,' Pip said, landing on Lily's nose.
Lily smiled, watching the Cloud Bull fade into the morning light. Some secrets are worth keeping — especially when they're about friendship and magic.
