The Cat Who Wove Starlight
Luna had the wildest hair in town. It tumbled like a chocolate waterfall past her shoulders, always tangling, always messy. Other children laughed, but Luna didn't mind. She knew her hair held secrets.
Every night, a scruffy orange cat appeared on her windowsill. His fur stuck out in every direction, as if he'd stuck his paw in an electrical socket. Luna named him Spark.
"You look like my hair," she told him, giggling.
Spark blinked amber eyes and purred like a tiny motor.
One moonless night, Spark tapped on the glass. When Luna opened the window, the cat spoke. "Your hair catches starlight, Luna. That's why it's always messy. Stars get tangled in it while you sleep."
Luna gasped. "Really?"
"Really," said Spark. "Come with me. We have work to do."
Luna climbed onto the cat's back—whoosh! They soared through the sky, Spark growing larger until Luna could ride comfortably.
They collected children's lost dreams, floating like glowing bubbles. Luna's hair, woven by Spark's magical paws, became golden nets. Each dream they caught became a silver thread in her hair.
"Why are we doing this?" Luna asked.
"So every child wakes up knowing magic is real," Spark explained.
By dawn, Luna's hair shimmered with hundreds of silver threads. She looked like she wore a crown.
At school that day, something magical happened. Every child Luna brushed past— even the ones who'd laughed at her messy hair—suddenly smiled, remembering wonderful dreams they'd forgotten.
That night, Spark returned. "You're my best friend," Luna whispered, hugging him tight.
"And you're mine," Spark purred. "Together, we'll weave starlight forever."
From then on, Luna never worried about her messy hair again. She knew it wasn't messy at all— it was magical.
