The Cat Who Wanted to Float

Mittens was a fluffy orange cat who dreamed of swimming. Every day, she watched the goldfish gliding through their bowl, shimmering like tiny liquid sunsets.

"How wonderful it must be," Mittens purred, pressing her white paw against the glass. "To float and dance without touching the ground."

The smallest goldfish, Clementine, swam closer. Her scales flashed bright orange, almost the same color as Mittens' fur.

"You could swim too," Clementine bubbled through the water. "You just need to believe."

But Mittens was afraid. Cats weren't supposed to like water. Everyone knew that!

One afternoon, Mittens' owner left a bottle of vitamin drops on the table. The label promised: "For strong bones and brave hearts."

Mittens' eyes widened. A brave heart! That's exactly what she needed!

That evening, when her human wasn't looking, Mittens carefully knocked the bottle. A single drop landed in the goldfish bowl, swirling like a tiny galaxy.

Clementine swam through it, and suddenly she began to glow! The light spread through the water until the whole bowl shimmered with magic.

"Now!" Clementine called. "Quickly, touch the water!"

Mittens dipped one paw in. It didn't feel scary anymore—it felt like warm sunlight. She dipped another paw, then another, until her whole body was gently floating.

She was swimming! She was really swimming!

Clementine swam circles around her. "See? You were brave all along. The vitamin didn't give you courage—it just helped you find what was already inside."

They played together until the moon rose, cat and goldfish, swimming in a magical orange glow.

From that day on, Mittens learned something important: Being brave doesn't mean you're not afraid. It means trying anyway, even when everyone says you can't.

And sometimes, the best friends are the ones who help you discover your own magic.
