The Cat Who Texted From Mars
Lily couldn't find her cat Mochi anywhere. She searched under beds, behind couches, even inside closets. But Mochi had vanished.
Then Lily's dad's iPhone started buzzing on the kitchen table. Strange—Dad was at work.
Lily picked it up and gasped. A text message appeared: "HELLO FROM THE BASEBALL DIAMOND. BRING SPINACH. NEED ENERGY FOR RETURN TRIP. — MOCHI"
"Mochi?!" Lily whispered, her heart racing with excitement and wonder.
She grabbed a handful of spinach from the refrigerator and rushed to the park. At the baseball field, the dirt shimmered with silver sparkles. In the center stood Mochi, wearing a tiny spacesuit.
"You can talk?!" Lily cried.
"I've been visiting my grandparents on Mars," Mochi explained. "Martian cats need spinach to power our rocket boots. But I ran out halfway home!"
Lily poured the spinach onto the ground. It glowed green and floated into Mochi's suit. Mochi's boots burst with tiny flames.
"Thank you, Lily!" Mochi meowed, floating higher. "True friends help each other, even across galaxies. Want to come?"
Lily's eyes widened. "Really?"
Mochi touched the iPhone still in Lily's hand. Suddenly, Lily's feet lifted off the ground. Together, cat and girl soared into the starry sky, the baseball field becoming a sparkling jewel below them.
"Next time," Mochi purred, "bring extra spinach. My grandmother makes the most amazing Martian salad!"
Lily laughed as they rocketed toward the red planet, where adventure awaited—and spinach-powered friendship made anything possible.
