The Cat Who Swam with Zombies

Lily hated swimming lessons. Every Tuesday afternoon, she'd hide behind the locker room door, hoping her mom would forget to pick her up. But this Tuesday was different.

Her orange tabby cat, Mango, had snuck into her backpack. As Lily fumbled with her swimsuit, a fluffy orange head popped out.

"Mango! You can't be here!" Lily whispered, giggling.

But Mango had other plans. He leaped from her bag and trotted straight toward the pool. Lily chased after him, her flip-flops slapping against the wet tiles.

What happened next made Lily gasp. Mango didn't stop at the edge — he jumped right into the water! But instead of freaking out like most cats, Mango began swimming perfectly, his orange fur floating around him like seaweed.

Then Lily saw something amazing. In the shallow end, three toys came to life — a plastic zombie action figure, a skeleton pirate, and a tiny vampire. They were doing laps!

"Hey!" called the zombie toy. "Want to play follow the leader?"

Mango meowed excitedly and paddled over. Lily, forgetting her fear, waded in.

"I'm Captain Zed," the zombie said, doing a perfect backstroke. "We're the Midnight Swimming Club. But don't tell anyone — real zombies don't swim. They're too stiff!"

Lily laughed so hard she accidentally did a cannonball. Splash!

That's how Lily learned to swim — by playing water tag with zombie toys and her magical cat. Every Tuesday, Mango would "accidentally" end up at the pool, and the toys would come alive for their secret swimming club.

Her instructor was amazed. "What changed?" she asked.

Lily grinned, scratching Mango behind his ears. "Sometimes the scariest things — like zombies and swimming — turn out to be the most fun of all."

And that's the truth. Sometimes you just need a brave cat to show you that even zombies can make perfect swimming buddies.
