The Cat Who Swam with Pyramid Guardians

Mittens was no ordinary cat. While other cats napped in sunbeams, she dreamed of adventure. One hot afternoon, she spotted something shimmering at the bottom of the family pool. It looked like a tiny pyramid made of golden light.

"I must investigate," Mittens declared, puffing out her white chest. Though cats usually avoided water, Mittens was brave. She slipped into the cool blue water, paws moving in a clumsy sort of swimming motion. "I'm doing it!" she bubbled.

Down she swam, following the glowing pyramid's mysterious pull. But just as she reached it, strange shadows rose from the pool depths. They were green and wobbly, moving in a funny, jerky dance.

"We are the Pool Zombies!" one announced in a bubbly voice. Mittens trembled. Zombies sounded scary!

But then the creature smiled—well, made a wobbly smiling shape. "We're not scary zombies. We're guardians of the Magic Pyramid! We just move funny because the water makes us wobble."

Another one did a silly, jerky spin. "Want to learn our zombie dance? It's how we celebrate visitors!"

Mittens giggled, sending bubbles floating upward. "Yes!"

The Pool Zombies taught her their wobbly, wonderful dance. They spun and shook and jerked in the most delightfully silly way. The golden pyramid glowed brighter with their joy.

"You're the first cat who's ever visited us," the leader said. "Most cats are afraid of water. But you were brave enough to try something new. That's the greatest magic of all."

Mittens felt warm all over, even in the cool water. She had discovered that new friends could be found anywhere, even in unexpected places—even among wobbly underwater creatures!

"I'll come back every summer," she promised.

"And we'll teach you new zombie dances!" they cheered.

When Mittens finally swam back to the surface, she carried more than just the memory of her magical adventure. She carried a lesson in her heart: being brave enough to try new things could lead to the most wonderful friendships.

That evening, as she curled up for a well-earned nap, Mittens smiled. The world was full of magic, especially for those willing to take the plunge—literally.
