The Cat Who Swam With Lightning

Barnaby was a small orange cat who lived in an old lighthouse by the sea. He loved watching storms roll in, but he was terribly afraid of water. He would sit on the windowsill, safe and dry, while rain pounded against the glass.

One evening, a terrible storm arrived. Thunder shook the whole lighthouse. Lightning flashed so bright it turned night into day. Barnaby trembled under the bed.

But then something magical happened. A bolt of lightning struck the ocean just outside the window, and suddenly the raindrops began to glow. They weren't just falling water anymore—they were tiny swimming pools, each one shimmering with silver light.

Barnaby crept closer. Inside each glowing raindrop swam a tiny fish made of pure lightning! They were beautiful, darting and dancing in their little pools of light. But one small lightning fish was stuck. Its raindrop pool had landed on the windowsill and was slowly disappearing.

The little lightning fish looked at Barnaby with worried eyes. It needed to get back to the ocean before its pool vanished completely.

Barnaby's heart raced. He was terrified of water. But the lightning fish was so small and frightened, just like him. Something inside the little cat grew brave.

He dipped one paw into the glowing raindrop. It didn't feel like regular water—it felt warm and tingly, like sunshine. Barnaby took a deep breath and jumped right in.

He was swimming! Not in scary cold water, but in warm, magical light. All around him, the lightning fish swam too, guiding him through the air. Barnaby scooped up the stranded fish in his paws and carried it through the glowing rain, all the way to the ocean below.

The little lightning fish swam free, then jumped back up and touched Barnaby's nose with a spark of gratitude. From that day on, Barnaby was never afraid of storms again. He knew that sometimes the scariest things hold the most magic, and true friends come in the most surprising sizes—even small enough to swim in a raindrop.
