The Cat Who Swam in Stars

Whiskers was no ordinary cat. While other cats slept curled on soft sofas, she dreamed of swimming—not in water, cats hate that—but in the silver ribbon that stretched across the night sky.

One evening, as Whiskers sat on her favorite windowsill watching the stars twinkle, an old owl landed beside her. In her beak, she clutched a shimmering orange tablet that glowed like a tiny moon.

"This," the owl hooted wisely, "is a moon vitamin. It will grant you one wish."

Whiskers's green eyes grew wide as saucers. "I want to swim among the stars!"

The owl nodded and placed the magical vitamin on the windowsill. "Eat this when the moon is full. But remember—magic shared is magic multiplied."

Whiskers waited three nights. On the third night, the moon glowed like a giant pearl in the dark sky. She carefully licked up the vitamin. Suddenly, her silky orange fur began to sparkle, and tiny silver wings appeared on her paws!

Floating upward, Whiskers found herself swimming through the Milky Way! Stars tickled her whiskers like bubbles. Comets raced past like shooting fish. She met a family of friendly star-bears who taught her to catch stardust in her paws and turn it into wishes.

But then Whiskers noticed something sad—a small star was fading, its light growing dimmer and dimmer.

The star-bears shook their furry heads. "Nothing can be done. It's just what happens to old stars."

Whiskers remembered the owl's words. She gathered all her sparkling fur and let a handful of golden stardust fall from her paws onto the fading star. It twinkled brighter than ever!

"That was your magic!" a star-bear gasped. "You gave it away!"

Whiskers purred happily. "But I still have plenty left."

When she returned home at dawn, her fur no longer sparkled, and the tiny wings were gone. But as she curled up to sleep, she noticed her reflection in the window—her hair now had a single, perfect star-shaped patch of white fur where the stardust had touched her.

Whiskers smiled in her sleep, knowing that some magic stays with you forever—especially the magic you give away to help others.
