The Cat Who Swam Among Stars
Barnaby was an orange tabby cat who loved **running** through the garden at midnight, chasing moonbeams and fireflies. But he had a secret—a lonely goldfish named Finley who lived in a glass bowl on the windowsill.
Most cats would have wanted to eat Finley. But Barnaby was different. Every night, he'd tap his paw against the bowl, and Finley would swim in happy circles, creating tiny rainbows with his shimmering golden scales. They became the unlikeliest of **friends**.
One summer evening, when the stars twinkled like spilled sugar, something magical happened. Finley's bowl began to glow, and suddenly—pop!—the tiny **goldfish** floated right out of his water, surrounded by a bubble of sparkling stardust.
"Barnaby!" Finley squeaked (and goldfish don't usually squeak, but Finley was special). "I've discovered I can swim through the night sky! But I'm afraid to go alone."
Barnaby's green eyes widened with wonder. "Then I'll come with you!"
But how could a **cat** swim through the stars?
Finley smiled, and the stardust bubble grew big enough for both of them. Together, they floated out the window, higher and higher, past the roof and the tallest oak tree. The world below became a patchwork quilt of lights and shadows.
They visited the moon, which was made of soft, glowing cheese, and slid down the Milky Way like it was the best water slide ever. They danced with constellations that came alive when they passed—Orion let them hold his bow, and Ursa Major offered them honey from the Great Bear's secret hive.
"I never knew the world was so big," Barnaby whispered, his heart full.
"It's even bigger when you have someone to share it with," Finley said.
As dawn approached, they floated back to Finley's bowl, both sparkling with stardust that would never wash away. Barnaby curled up beside the bowl, and from that night on, he never felt lonely again.
Sometimes the best adventures aren't about how fast you're running, but who you're running with—and true friendship can make even a cat and a fish swim among the stars.
