The Cat Who Swallowed the Sun
Lily loved her cat Mango more than anything in the world. He was a bright orange tabby who spent his days sleeping in sunbeams and his nights chasing imaginary butterflies. But Mango had a secret—he could talk!
One rainy afternoon, Lily's mom dropped her iphone on the kitchen floor with a loud clatter. The screen cracked, and the phone wouldn't turn on. Lily was devastated. All her games, photos of Grandma, and favorite drawing apps were trapped inside.
"Don't worry," Mango purred, hopping onto the counter. "I know someone who can help."
Lily gasped. "You can talk?"
"Only when magic is needed," Mango winked. "Come with me."
He led her to the garden, where a tiny door appeared beneath the biggest orange tree. Inside, they found the Clockwork Cricket, a tiny inventor who fixed broken things.
"Ah, a cracked iphone!" the cricket chirped. "I'll need three things: moonlight, a spider's silk thread, and..." He paused. "The courage to ask for help."
Lily looked down. "I was trying to fix it myself because I didn't want to bother anyone."
Mango rubbed against her leg. "Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is admit you need a friend."
Lily nodded. "Can you help us, Mr. Cricket?"
The cricket smiled. "That was the third ingredient!" He worked his magic, and the phone glowed golden.
When they returned, Lily's mom was amazed. "How did you...?"
"Mango helped me ask for help," Lily said, scratching her cat's ears.
That night, Mango whispered, "Remember, little one—magic isn't about doing things alone. It's about letting others in."
Lily hugged her orange cat tight. She had fixed her phone, but she'd learned something even more valuable: friendship is the greatest magic of all.
