The Cat Who Spied on Raindrops

Lily was running through the tall grass, her breath coming in quick little puffs. The sun beat down on her village, and the river had dried up three months ago. Everyone was worried.

Suddenly, something soft brushed against her leg. Lily looked down and gasped. A cat with the most unusual blue hair sat there, blinking golden eyes at her.

"I'm a spy," the cat said. "My name is Splash, and I spy on raindrops for the Water Spirit."

Lily's eyes widened. "You can talk?"

Splash's blue hair rippled like tiny waves. "Only to children who believe in magic. The Water Spirit sent me. Someone is stealing the rain before it falls."

Lily had always noticed how the clouds seemed to disappear over their village. "Will you help me find who's doing it?"

Together they climbed the highest hill, Lily running alongside the graceful cat. At the top, they saw him: a grumpy giant named Grumble, catching all the rain in a giant net and pouring it into his bathtub. He was using all the village's water for bubble baths!

"That's selfish!" Lily cried.

Splash's blue hair stood straight up. "I have a plan."

The cat snuck closer, moving like water itself — silent and smooth. While Splash distracted Grumble by creating shiny reflections in the air, Lily untied the giant net.

All the rainwater rushed free, falling in glittering drops back to the village below. The river began to flow again. Flowers bloomed instantly.

Grumble sighed, looking at his empty bathtub. "I suppose I was being selfish. May I have just one bucket for my bath?"

Lily nodded. "As long as you leave the rest for everyone else."

The Water Spirit appeared as a beautiful rainbow. "Thank you, brave friends. Lily, for your courage. Splash, for your spying. And Grumble, for learning to share."

Splash's blue hair shimmered with pride. "Water belongs to everyone."

From that day on, Lily and Splash became best friends, guardians of the village's water. And whenever it rained, Lily would look for the little cat with the magical blue hair, running through the drops, splashing in puddles, and making sure the rain fell freely for all.
